Introduction

Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Stephanie Lurie. I was born on June 11, 1996 in New Haven, Connecticut. My family lived there for the first two years of my life and then we moved to Danville in the Bay Area. That's in the East Bay about 45 minutes from San Francisco. I now go to Sacramento State and I am a Deaf Studies major, hoping to one day be an interpreter for the Deaf. I am a Deaf Studies major because I have always been interested and fascinated by sign language and I want to use the skills I have learned (and continue to learn) to help others.

A little about me: I am writing this blog for my English 5 class. I am in an international youth organization called Job's Daughters International, which is for girls between the ages of 10 and 20. We teach leadership, public speaking, and time management. Last March, I was elected to be a state representative for the year which goes from June 2014 to June 2015. I get to travel all across California promoting the group, visiting dozens of local chapters, and hundreds of members. So far, I have driven 9,000 miles, with thousands more planned before June!

My hobbies outside of school and Job's Daughters include reading and all things Disney. Harry Potter, The Hunger Games, and Percy Jackson are among my favorite series. I have had an obsession with Disney since my family first started making trips to the happiest place on Earth.

Hopefully you have learned a bit more about me and my life! Until next time,

Stephanie
